When our kids were small, since we don’t have any family near us we had to hire sitters for help (and Lord knows we needed it). We relied on one family in particular—a mother and her two daughters. Recently one of the daughters came over who we haven’t seen since we moved 4 years ago. Because it was so chaotic in those early days with the twins and a toddler, we would often have the sitter walk our dog and sometimes feed him too. When our 17-18 year-old dog (approx. 90 in human years) saw the daughter today, he jumped up once. In his old age he almost never jumps like that, and he never does it to greet people anymore. Except her. Like they say, dogs always remember your scent. And I will add that they always remember the people they love. Dogs are the best! Creatures of love.
